Pink folders?

Hey everyone, I'm looking for some recommendations. I was talking with a friend of mine today and, knowing that I'm into knives, he asked me for some help. His new girlfriend likes knives (I wonder if she has a sister...) and likes the color pink. She apparently REALLY likes knives that involve the color pink, so he's wanting to find her a "nice knife in pink" as an upcoming gift. Personally, color scheme is one of the last things I worry about when looking for a knife, so I decided to consult the collective wisdom of the forum for suggestions.

I realize that selecting a great folder first and then just getting custom pink scales is probably the best way to go, but for the moment I'm looking into stock production knives involving pink to leave him some room to up his game for future sharp and pointy gifts. I believe he's mostly looking for modern folder designs (he asked if my ZT 0909 came in pink) but it sounds like she'd really like most folder styles... in pink. As for price range, he didn't seem too dismayed by the $180 that I paid for my 0909, so possibly up to $200ish, but less expensive options would probably be better for a gift early in the relationship.

So, what folders come in pink that I should tell him to check out? Thanks in advance for the recommendations.

I believe Spyderco has a pink Paramilitary 2, and you can never go wrong with a PM2.

Another one that comes to mind is a Benchmade Ritter (mini) Griptilian in pink. They were an older run model so they only have S30V as the steel. Knife works had a limited supply of them last when I checked, but that was a while ago so I may be wrong.

I recently bought a pink Spyderco Lum Chinese for a great price since it's discontinued. It's a very nice knife and I would recommend it.

Pink RAT or RAT-2 sounds like something you should consider. They're cheap and good and don't look too stabby.

I'd pick the RAT-2, between the two mainly because it is smaller and doesn't have a coated blade, at least the ones readily available here in Australia anyway.

I highly recommend the Native 5 LW. They're in stock at Blade HQ and maybe other places. Great knife in a great color. I often wish I hadn't gifted mine; I'm stalking the Exchange for a replacement--LOL!

Not knowing the personalities involved, the PM2 might be a bit much for a non-knife person.

Thanks for all the responses everyone!

There are plenty of options (more if you're up for having custom scales made for something).

Try going to one of the big knife vendors and searching "pink". For example:

https://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_store.html?usrsearch=pink&

http://www.bladehq.com/?search=pink

Well... poo. I know I said that color isn't something that I think about much in knives, but it still should have occurred to me that they'd have it be searchable on their sites for those that do. Thanks for being WAY nicer about pointing that out than I deserved. Perhaps you aren't so evil after all. :D

Dude, if you wanted to see pictures of my pink 0909, you coulda just asked...

Only one I'm thinking of off the top of my head that hasn't been mentioned (I didn't click on all the links) is the Cold Steel Broken Skull. I haven't handled one, but seems to have fairly positive buzz around the forum.
I'd second the Spydercos, Native 5 and PM2.
Rat 1 or 2 for a budget choice. There are a lot more pink knives on the budget end of the spectrum.

Not gonna lie, that's a pretty sweet pink knife you've got there!

Cheaper than a RAT, You could go really cheap with an elk ridge er134 off eBay, example here.

I have a "rainbow" one. It feels solid and sharpens up beautifully, but I'll warn you, I have concerns about the liner lock in the long term. It's wearing quite fast. I'd get it only if they're not going to be doing anything silly with it.

I'd just pay the slight difference and get a RAT, TBH. Even though, "it's a beautiful thing" in the sense of a green zombie hunter folder :p

If your friend is looking for a good Pink knife to start the gift ball rolling, a Spyderco Pink FRN Ladybug makes a nice and relatively inexpensive gift that won't usually freak out a non-knife person. They are available as an Exclusive from Cutlery Shoppe...

Spyderco has made quite a few pink FRN models over the years. Most of these are discontinued now but are sometimes available on the secondary market...

I'd carry that pink knife any day! Pink can look good if you do it right. The pink Rat is probably the safest bet since it's such a solid design. Or the pink Ladybug. Depends on if there's a size preference.

I know a few girls who really liked a pink leek i had. Not just because it was pink but they liked the assisted opening and just the thin sleek look. But if she is really a knife nut and he wants to spend the money id get her any zt flipper with a full titanium handle and have it anodized pink for her. Kinda a custom one of a kind touch on an all ready killer knife. As long as its Titanium the only color that you cant really get it a true red. But that would open up your options a lot and i bet someone who does anodizing would like the opportunity to do a color so rarely requested. Aluminum can be anodized too but its much harder to find someone who does single small part anodizing.

If he keeps the price down just a bit, he could add other pink items that may be perfect for a new relationship.

Usamadeblade has done some pretty cool stuff with titanium. I'd bet he would do a custom on request. Straight pink, rainbow with pink, other combination to make it totally unique.

I put together a Mini Griptilian with pink after-market scales from Applied Weapons Technology for my niece. She loved it. The AWT pink is a little darker so it doesn't come across as too pastel. The Grip is offered with stock pink scales, but they tend to be a little on the pale pink side. I really love what the AWT scales do for the Grips at a very modest increase in price.

I gave my cousin a pink Kershaw Chive some years ago and she's carried it in her purse to this day. Some girls seem to really like AO knives and the Chive is very compact and seems to fit in a typical woman's hand quite well.

Other than that, as others have mentioned there are pink RATs, PM2s and Lums.
