Pinnacle problem

Just got a BM Pinnacle because they seem to be phasing them out & because I wanted one.

My sample has a noticeable squeak and drag on opening. Lots of Dillon's "Snake Oil" hasn't helped. Loosening the pivot lessens this but ends up with the blade wobbling & probably unsafe to use. FWIW, the handles seem more porous than any other Pinnacle I've handled.

So I have 3 questions:
1) Has anyone else found this to be a problem?
2) Any ideas for "home remedy" solutions?
3) What's the word on BM warranty service? (I ask this because I got this at a gun show, and the pamphlet states they want the original bill of sale--none exists--and the receipt. I can send them a copy of my credit card receipt with the numbers blacked out but refuse to send them my original.)

Any ideas and input welcomed.

I doubt its any problem with the knife that alot of opening would not solve, but if you want to send it back, I doubt it would be a problem. I sent a Benchmade in once...no receipt or anything, didnt seem to be a problem. I would just check out www.benchmade.com and email them to see how they want it sent, tell them where ya got it. I bet they will handle it.

Benchmade's warranty stipulations just cover them if you send in a knife that is obviously abused. Their customer service is second to none, in my experience.

I had the same problem with mine when I first got it.

It has a black blade and some of the material off of the coating seemed to be mucking up the works. I had used Tuff Glide on it, but that seemed to make it worse.

Finally, I sprayed a bunch of WD-40 in the pivot while cycling it several dozen times back and forth. I then washed out the whole thing with hot soapy water and dried it out thoroughly.

After it dried, I again put in a few drops of the Tuff Glide and now it works like a charm. Still not as smooth as my Sebenzas, but pretty good for a production knife.

Thanks to all for advice--will give your suggestions a try before shippijng my new toy away.

Rogue: Two different stocking BM dealers told me that just Saturday. Also, Knives Plus Mail Order (not encyclopedic on BMs in their catalog, but...) no longer lists the BT2 version. I figured from all of that there's a good chance the 750 ain't long for this world, and there was no way I'd carry an uncoated ATS-34 blade--too much rust history with me!
