Pinned or Screwed, which do you like?

I prefer pins but am not opposed to screws. In fact, I think screws can compliment a custom style knife that has a more modern look. I know it defeats the idea behind a traditional knife but I have seen and own some neat slippies with screws. Some even remind me of what a traditional pocket knife may look in a futuristic, sci-fiction sorta way.

I am a pin guy for the most part especially on traditional patterns. Screws just don't look right to me on those types of knives that we would call reproductions.

Every once in a while I see one I like and the screws win :D.

and this one with all kinds of pins and a few handle screws ain't to shabby either. Obviously this maker (Bailey) does not have problems pinning pearl (74 pique pins on this puppy), and the handles are attached with screws.

I like em both but on some knives screws just look wrong. If I build a slip with SS liners/bolsters and carbon steel blade then it gets pinned. If I go with damascus blade/bolsters and titanium liners, it gets screwed together. It takes a lot of skill to build a high end, pinned together slip joint and likewise to make screws look right on a traditional slip.

Seems like most who responded go for pins over screws, but there is certainly enough screw-lovers to create a viable market.

Screws make it easier for the maker to put on expensive scales with less risk of ruining them. The other utility factor comes in repairs. Anyone needed repairs on a custom slipjoint where screws would have made life better? Anyone had an experience where screws created problems, such as a pivot that wouldn't stay tight or a scale screw that worked loose?

I prefer pins for a traditional slipjoint. Although I would happily own those three knives Don posted, or just about any Bailey Bradshaw slipjoint with screwed on scales.
