Pinned scales vs. Removable scales

I have a 52100 Fixed blade that I want to put scales on. It had a paracord wrapped handle but I didn't like the paracord. I have made scales out of Black Palm. This is a 7" OAL blade with a 3 1/4 handle. I use it for everything. I take it hunting, camping, daily work use, everything.

My question is, should I epoxy and pin the new handles on or should I have removable handles and use a type of screw set. What is better or preferred? Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated!

As I see it, the advantage of the para cord is you can use the knife in a survival situation but for everyday use I would want scales as they are easy to keep clean and are more comfy. Removable scales would allow you to go back to para cord if you plan on skydiving into the wilderness.

What Bruce says, always :)

I'd add that when my kid needed a fixed blade knife for the "sandbox" he asked for P-cord- he felt pretty sure he'd just destroy anything else.
I wrapped a wicked looking 4.5" tanto that I'd made from 440c, and epoxied the cord.
Worked great, he says.

I think pinned scales look more elegant and suit higher end fixed blades. Removable scales have a more tactical look to them. So I guess it depends on the look you are going for.

I never understand why you would want to remove scales.
I understand the cord part, but why remove a scale?
Just epoxy and pin :)
