Im definitely not an expert but it seems like even if you could make a damascus pin it would not match the pattern of the bolster. I would think you would be better off with a hidden pin. Just a thought...
Damascus pins wont match up with the Damascus bolsters,so they are not all that cost efficient to make.otherwise you have to turn them on a lathe to what ever size you are wanting.
Steel pins or screws work just fine, otherwise hidden pins and solder is you best bet.

Here is someone that uses the obvious to his advantage. Check out Charles Sauer knives. He uses alot od damascus bolsters and lets the pins be what they are.....structural elements. The damascus pins dont match the demascus and he even uses mild steel with them. Looks very intentional so it doesnt bother me. Just another angle to think about.

Thunderforged makes damascus pins. They come in 1/8"X6".Makes a pretty good "eye" in the bolster. They are fairly inexpensive. They are the same material as their Thunderforged damascus bars, and match well.
Early in my knifemaking career I took some 7018 or 6011 welding rod and stripped the flux off. I then used it as pin stock. When I etched the bolsters the pin stock had a pattern in it already. I'm not sure what caused it but it was an interesting occurance.
