Matt,
I'm heading out the door in a few minutes, but wanted to give you a report on
the knife. I'm in Georgia, and I've yet to shoot a deer, but the friend I'm
staying with got one and I was able to do a bit of dressing with the fighter.
Naturally, with the guard it isn't the most natural skinner I've ever used,
but the edge cuts aggressively and stays sharp, and it certainly zipped his
belly open like a white-hot razor through butter! Everyone really likes it, and
it's been passed around a good bit for whatever anyone needs to cut. I really
like how those silver tendrils really stand out on the blade, and it has
stayed looking the same through all use and cleaning. I've yet to need to touch
up the edge. It also carries well in the sheath, and it's a nice compromise
between not being so low as to flop around, or so high as to poke me in the
ribs.
