Pins or Bolts?

:confused:I am gettin ready to put the scales on an axe its 18 inches with a 8 inch handle. Was thinking pins but my father said maybe I should tap it and bolt the scales down.

Is it a huge advantage bolts (button head socket caps), over 5/16 tubing pins?

Want to hear some opinions before I follow through.

Thanks,
Harlan

My .02 cents, use Corby bolts. They cinch down the scales as they are counter sinked into the scales and give you a positive mechanical bond.

Pins work fine for hidden tang knives, but I would probably go with bolts or at least rivets for scales.
