I posted one of these a couple of weeks ago but had another similar one I had forged so I’m using the same description below and only changing the handle information.

While designing the Pioneer Bowie I wanted to create a knife that looked like it was made 150+ years ago but had been kept is very good condition. The idea was to capture something an old pioneer would have pounded out in a makeshift shop and then ground and edge onto with a foot powered stone wheel grinder. I’ve is hand forged (I don’t have a power hammer) the Pioneer Bowie from 5160, a steel well known for toughness and edge holding. I've left hammer marks and forging scales in the blade to give this knife a unique and rich character all of its own. The blade is differentially heat treated (although I did not etch the blade to bring out a temper line) to produce a nice hardedge so it’ll do lot of cutting between sharpening while having a soft spine for great toughness. The handle is made from stacked leather with white and brown contrasting spacers and elk antler giving the knife a classic appearance (I refer to as “shades of Skagle”). The guard and pommel made from brass. I've taken extra care in the fit and finish of the handle and guard to give this Bowie a very high quality crafted look and it is a winner. The Pioneer Bowie comes with a brown leather sheath.

Specs:
3/10 inch thick 5160 high carbon steel differentially heat treated.

Overall Length about 13.5 inches

Blade Length is 8 inches long from guard to tip.
Handle is stacked leather with elk antler with a brass guard and pommel. This hidden tang design runs all they though the handle and threaded to the end cap pommel.
Tooled brown leather sheath (shown).

SOLD (Price is $225 plus $12 shipping in US)

Man. That's the first knife of that style that I've ever loved. It looks like it was meant to be instead of most; which look like somebody ran out of sanding belts or lost their spectacles.
Bravo.Fantastic piece of art. I'll be in touch after the upcoming end of the year circus.

Oh, man... this is gorgeous. Would so love to get this for my Father for Christmas. Don't know if I can swing the $$ though (and I just bought another knife like 5 minutes ago).

Whoever gets this is real lucky! What a gem.

I can't explain how perfect that handle seems for that blade. That elk must have had some interest in knives

I usually try to guess the price before looking at what is posted. Your's seem quite a bit lower than I would have thought. Nice looking work

I will take it. I am on the road driving and will pay first thing in the morning. PayPal

Kelly,
I met you at the SF gun show a few months ago and have regretted not buying one of your Bowies.
If your still crafting these I'd like to order one.
