Pioneer clip question

I ought to know this, but for some reason I can't remember what kind kind of clip (if any) is on the Pioneers. On the REKAT web page I see there is a belt mounted pouch gizmo, but I don't see any word pertaining to a pocket clip. Presence of a practical (high-mounted) pocket clip would help sway me in the direction of buying one of these knives.

P.S., upon looking at the web page again, I see that the clip is prominently visible on what appears to be a Pioneer. In my earlier, perfunctory glance at these pictures, I must have thought I was looking at a Hobbit folder.

Thanks.

My wish is for REKAT is to make the clip black. A shiny clip invites unwanted attention. Is there any chance for a subdued clip? I'm interested in the new Carnivore, but am hesitating because of the shiny clip.

We are working on updating the Web and that should be finished in the near future ( you listening Spark) This will include photos of the new Slide Bar folder and the clips.

The problem with black clips is Stainless is a bitch to coat or color. Coating them with BlackT is possible but it like any finish will eventualy wear off and its a bit expensive. Coloring them is tough. We might make a run and offer them on the Carnivor and Esclator. We did a small batch and sent them out so far no one has called whinning about excessive wear.

Can I find a picture of the clip-side of a Pioneer 2 somewhere. I want to know how high/low it rides in the pocket.

Thanks,
Philip

Philip357,

I have a Pioneer II Drop point and can give you an idea of clip. The clip is set up for tip down carry unlike my Carnivore. The clip attaches to the blade pivot screw. The Pioneer doesn't sit as low in the pocket as my BM Leopard. The top of the knife rides with approximately 3/4" sticking out. I really like the knife; the thing is built like a tank. I just wished it had a thumbstud like the Carnivore. You may want to consider moving the clip to the other end for tip down carry. This way you can mount it as low as you want. I would just make sure that you drill and tap the screw threads into the steel liner. If I can find a button head screw to match the others, then I will relocate the clip on mine. Hope this helps.
Bob,
I'm holding off on getting a Carnivore Cub to go with my Pioneer and Bladeforums Carnivore until the new steel switch over. Will the Cub be availble in the D-2 Mod. or just CM-154? Will we see the new steel anytime in the near future? Possibly before Christmas? That would make a great present for myself.

Bob - or anyone else that can help -

On the subject of carry methods ... I recently received the front-break belt sheath. The fit seems to be out somehow. There is no moulded contour to fit the pocket clip, with the result that the sheath is getting scratched up. It seems like it would fit perfectly if I removed the clip. Is this the idea? Is it an either/or thing?

Thanks -

Kallisti.
