This is another knife from my first batch of 1095 steel. The handle is made from mountain laurel, a wood used by the mountain folks here for tool handles. It is a very strong wood that does not tend to split or check and the bark stays in place. I have also stabilized the wood.

1/8 inch 1095 steel heat treated to Rc 59-62
Flat ground
Hidden tang
"Aged" with mustard, etchent and gun blue
Overall length: 9 inches
Blade: 4 1/4 inches
Handle material: Stabilized mountain laurel
Riveted leather scabbard with an antler button to hook over the top of your belt or to hang over the side of your possibles bag.

$85 delivered to the US or Canada. Paypal or money order accepted. I will accept your check if you don't mind waiting for it to clear before I ship.

I really like the look of that handle GL, I'm tempted ;)

Mountain laurel I'd like to see more knives with the same. Fine looking handle.

I can't tell from the pix, but is that a hidden tang? How's it fastened, I don't see any pins?

Nice look on that laurel! Really cool sheath!

This is a hidden tang that is drilled about 3/4 of the way into the handle. I glued it in with epoxy but maybe should have used hide glue to make it more authentic. The guard is a wrap of rawhide held in place with a brass nail and superglue. (Superglue is not authentic either but if the pioneers had it they sure would have used it)

Awwww, man! what did ya go and do that for, now it's not AUTHENTIC! I would'a bought it otherwise... :D :D

You are absolutely right, if the mountain-folk had known about superglue and epoxy, they would have used it!

VERY nice lookin' knife.

Give me a pay pal address and consider it sold. Beautiful functional knife. I'd be proud to carry that on an elk hunt.
