Pipe Tomahawk

Here is one I just finished up for a customer. Forged from 1x1 1/4 mild steel. Piece of plow steel forge welded in for the cutting edge. Hand carved white ash for the handle. Mild steel end cap and deer antler for the clean out plug. Lightly aged. Sealed and ready for smoking.

Of all the pipe hawks I have made I have never tried one out. Had some freinds try them. But I usually eat my tobacco instead of smoke it. If you promise you will not try the illegal stuff. I may send them to you to test.

looks great...now for the stupid question....for a pipe hak...what does the inside look like....i'm guessing you put the tobacco in the bowl at the top....and obviosuly smoke from the mouthpiece....what does the inside look like though...is there like a metal cylinder throughout the piece of wood?.....ryan

That is correct on the bowl. The haft is just wood with a hole drilled from end to end. The head is slid on tight with a leather gasket and then you just connect the hole thru the bowl to the smoke channel by drilling. The clean out plug stops up the hole on the head end.

Wick, I do make ones with the saddle filed, which I prefer. The customer just wanted a plain head on this one. No moulding,embellishments or anything. It is very surprising how many people request this same thing when ordering.Thanks for the compliments.
