Pistol guy needs knife pre-purchase hand holding - initial BladeForums post

From the OP

*edited out some stupidity*

Based on the feedback from all here and personal preference, it will be a small Sebenza.

In looking at various online retailers' Web sites, I see that all have the same pricing. While in certain circumstances manufacturers may legally make their retailers abstain from lowering the price, these circumstances are few, and to me (a "Chicago school" economist) the practice stinks even when legal.

This being said, are there particular retailer to patronize or avoid?

Many thanks for all the feedback.

Good selection (You couldn't really go wrong either way). In a way it doesn't matter...whichever one you get, you will soon want to try the other one. And then another model, and another....

Nothing at all wrong with picking one up on the Exchange here. Lot's of "as new" get traded around, plus the beauty of a CRK (IMHO) is their simplistic durability - they can be brought back to new appearance (and function) quite readily.

AGREED!!! If you do go with a new one, as long as they are an official CRK distributor you will be OK - Just make sure it is free shipping is the only catch, most are free. I kind of got burned on my first CRK with shipping.

I'm a Browning/FN HiPower devotee and my vote would be for a Sm. Insingo for EDC. I think the Insingo shape makes the most out of the smaller knife. My larger heavy use/range knife is currently a Spyderco Southard and it's very good in that roll but I sold off a Lg Wilson Combat Sebenza a few years ago that I'd love to have back in that roll. That or a Lg. Carbon Fiber 25 is my next purchase.

So I come to the right place for advice; listen to it; make my decision; change my mind.

My Ti-Lock arrived today.

I won't repeat what everyone on this forum knows (much better than I do) about quality and the unique mechanism of this knife (and pocket clip). I will say that I am very, very impressed and also can't believe I have purchased this costly of a knife while my Spyderco Chaparral served the same function very well.

I never use a knife as a "worry bead" as was so perfectly put by Officer's Match, so an ultra-slick one handed open/close is immaterial to be. It is a cutter for me, and WOW!

I need to get used to the much larger blade in a slightly larger than Chaparral package. I am comfortable with the unusual clip already, and find it "bites" well onto my pant's rear pocket.

I've got to be nuts, but what a knife!
