I decided to try a little battoning with Kgd's RC4 today. The full taper blade lets it sink deep into the wood with ease.....

I'm ashamed to say at this point I looked at the thin section of tip poking out of the side of the wood and then pictured my e-mail to Kgd explaining how the tip had snapped off when struck with my batton so I bottled it and knocked it back out !!!

It did go through this smaller section with no trouble though so it may have been all right after all !

Now back to the larger section using my DM....no way that tip is gonna snap !!!

Here is a thickness comparison pic with the RC4, my DM and my Bandicoot...

I then tried making a fuzzstick again to see how it compared to my Bandioot...

They were very close in performance but I would just give the nudge to my Coot as it felt a little comfier in use and a little easier to control !!!

good to see that you're putting that bad boy to work .

I don't think you would of snapped the tip off the RC-4 IMHO

It takes some getting used to the fact that a thin blade can take punnishment. But they can. Nice thread. Love the pics.

Hey pit - cool pictures.....and give her hell....she can take it :D :D :D

Keep on batoning man, the Rat can take it. I've used an RC4 with about that much poking through. I regularly hit my 1/8" JK knives with that much or less showing. Sometimes with a tomahawk.

Hey PIT!!!! I got a spare AXE if you want to really split wood ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!

I jest i jest! :D:p

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about the tip too much, heck, the guy with the hockey mask couldn't even snap the tip off the RC-4:D

I agree with Andy. Batoning the tip isn't nearly as abusive as prying.
