Knives on hike: RAT7, my grandfathers old stockman seen here and Leatherman SuperTool 200 hope you like the pics,
the walk was good but the waterfall was a bit disappointing,
funny thing about droughts there's no water about!!!!!!!:grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:

Thanks Dr. Mudd we're pretty used to the dry it's been going on for ten years. Global warming.......hmmmm The Australian bush is pretty varied within 100 metres we had gone from Messmate gums forrest to black sheoaks and grass-trees. these things - sorta like cousin IT

This drought is so terrible... worse thing about this heat is that I just got the materials for my first knife and the shed has a tin roof. And man is it hot. I can stand there and sweat buckets.
I havent been hiking lately because summer is one of my least favourite seasons - always hot and dry.

yep the mercury has been hitting the 40's in Vic and it's dry dry heat. For our American folk that's 100 ish, sweating your ass off just standing still!

Nick-nack the old tin shed just about takes the breath out of you when you walk in, doesn't it - and then there's the bushfires! Don't get me started.....
For those in the bush stay safe this season and get prepared...

I think the summer in Sydney has been pretty mild temp wise so far, everywhere else has been coping it however. Can we still call it a drought? I think this is the new normal.

As for the shed, you may want to have a look at one of those whirlybird vents. It made a big difference to mine.

EDIT: Should comment on the pics LOL. Looks like a nice area. I really should try and extend one of my business trips and do a bit of walking around down there.

yeh I know the shed is my brand new home... at night. I just got into the whole DIY stuff so Ive only got a workbench and a couple of tools. The air in the feels so heavy and thick... if it gets hotter Ill have to swim in.

Yep the Peninsular is great, much better in the off season, you can get a whole beach to yourself and then when you drive to the pub you can get a park and a seat by the window!! We went out for dinner and every pub from dromana to portsea was booked out!!! Half the restaurants were as well, ended up at La Porchetta. Hmmm not happy. I think you're right Apsilon, with all the Gov. water restriction and management (or mismanagement) this seems like our future, we're definitly gonna have to get smarter about our use and the recycling of this resource.

It's all good, we adapt pretty well, just gotta stop clearing our old growth forests.

Great pics bro and I love the thread title, made me laugh !!!!

Maybe some pics of the knives next time !

Our summer in WA has been pretty mild so far except for Christmas, hottest Christmas ever I think.

Great pics, ours was the coldest Christmas in a few years. Normally I can go golfing in a polo short sleeve shirt and be fine, this time I had to wear a jacket over it.

Pitdog, I'm still getting into the photography stuff, the crew i was with are a little sheeplish and may not understand my hobby, I forgot to mention in the first post as we walked out of the car park I was saying how it had been years since I'd run into a snake on a hike and that maybe numbers had been affected by the drought etc, walking back up the hill and Cazzy nearly stood on a 3 foot tiger snake!!! Ah nature.. So Cazzy got freaked and the tiger just kept going on it's merry way.

They're grass trees mate - used to be called blackboys but that's not PC nowdays.

Here's a slightly bigger one from over my way. They say they grow a foot per decade - so who knows how old this one is.
