Here's a picture of a Piute deadfall I made last autumn. I like the trigger mechanism. I think it's faster than a figure 4.
The cordage shown was made on the spot. It's Flemish twisted Evening Primrose. Once you get down the cordage making method, it takes less than 5 minutes to turn out enough to do the trap. I figure there is about a foot of cordage made. Evening primrose is strong enough to hold the stone which probably weighs about 5-6 pounds.

The bait was acorns. The sticks were whatever I found lying around. Probably a maple. Another thing I like about the trap is that it can be easily made without a knife.
No animals were hurt during the making of this trap as they were not interested
