No offense at all - I love Real Genius, and I'm particularly fond of Lazlo

The movie's based on CalTech, and particularly Dabney House (their house system is sort of a cross between fraternity and dorm); and I was involved for some years with a woman who had lived in Dabney House, so I got to visit and hear a lot of stories. Hung out for a while with the guy that Lazlo is based on (he actually was caught taking a wheelbarrow of bricks down to the tunnels under the building, in the process of building his own place down there.

Dabney has a long-running feud with rival Fleming House, underscored by the phrases "Dabney Eats It", and "Fleming Eats It Faster". The initials of these show up in the movie in a number of places (e.g. Darlington Electronics Industries), and are reputedly etched onto all sorts of hardware currently flying around our solar system.
