P'kal & Para2, which one is for me?

Hi, past few days Ive made a change course :D
Ive decided not to spent 150$+ on a box cutter no mater how tactical it is,
(i do have CS folding Tiger Claw & Talwar in pre-order)
and i already have knifes with a good fat handle, so the Para 2 would be redundant.

So, Ive decided on the Sage 2 CF,
even though it doesn't have lock or steel type i don't have in my collection,
overall i suspect it would be better knife to play with, and nicer on the eyes ;)
thank you all for suggestions, and thank you guys for showing me
how to flick the Spydi hole (from the other post)
now i can be a part of that club. :)

yelling: youuuujombo0O :p
(Eureka!)

Do you mean the Sage 3 CF? If so, then it is another great choice. Mine has the smoothest lock out of all my Spydies.

No, the Sage 2 (edit: i meant the sage 1 cf)
the "bolt action" is bit stiffer then axis lock,
i like liner lock and the CF pattern of the 2 better.

Hi Panta,

Just so you know, the Sage series was designed to honor lock designs and their designers so the Sage 1 is the Walker liner-lock, Sage 2 is Chris Reeve Integral Framelock, and Sage 3 the Bolt-Action Lock, Sage 4 were Lockbacks, maybe Al Mar's FrontLock?

Sounds like you are getting a Sage 1 which is an excellent lightweight knife. Too bad it seems you cannot carry for legal reasons. Are all knives off-limits?

thank you, i was aware of that.

about the sage i guess i was wrong and i meant the original sage (1?)
with the simple CF & liner lock model C123CFP.

about legal carry here, ill refer you to this picture from a recently news item here,
they arrested a man & refereed to him as carrying a dangerous knife . . .
her's that actual knife picture from the specific arrest. (a very dangerous knife in local police view )

The Sage series really intrigues me, but it breaks my rule regarding 'no carbon fiber.' Lol. Looks great, and I hear nothing but good things. Plus, the price isn't too outlandish.

Funny though, on Monday I took my sister's fiancé out for a drink after work. He had the Persistence I gave him for Christmas, clipped to his pocket. Before we left he said something to the tune of "I better not bring my knife to the bar. Can't take deadly weapons there!" My brother and I have some work to do with this one. We'll toughen him up.

Great choice Panta. The Sage series are great knives and I think you will find it gets used much more than a pkal, even if its just around the house. The Sage 1 is a great one but the Sage 3 is worth consideration too from a (fun of playing with) standpoint. The Sage 3 has what many consider to be the smoothest action of any Spyderco. Absolutely nothing wrong with the Sage 1...just trying to make your decision more difficult. ;)

i was thinking of the Ti Loc version but decided against it for 2 reasons.
1. i think it's fatter
2. lack of steel insert, i got a rule of my own, No framlock without steel insert.
to understand why please check out my Boker Epicenter Epic-Fail Post

Right on. The Sage 1 is well loved and you will be happy with that one I think.

all signs support that :)

there's my modified order
Ive let go the CS Talwar in HXP & Kershaw Emerson cqc XL for the Sage.

but it's going to be a while
stuck in pre-order with the new CS Folding Tiger Claw
(FFS lets go Cold Steel )

I personally think the Sage 3 is the best arm chair flipper that I own. It is so smooth that I can't help but grin just a little every time I open it. Most of the time I open it to use it I will close it and open it a couple of extra times just to enjoy it's smoothness. True knifestrurbation. ;)

i think they all have the same washers ..

They do, but the sage 3 doesn't have the extra friction of the liner touching the blade when opening. It is indeed quite smooth. But like I said, you will be stoked with the sage 1. All of them are going to open like butter compared to the lock back you've been using. ;)

edit: To further confuse the issue, I prefer the titanium Sage 2 to all of them! hah

Yes, but the Sage 3 seems to be the smoothest to me. The bolt lock produces very little resistance and if you just want to flick it open and closed then the Sage 3 can be flipped closed the easiest of all of the Sages. :) They are all very nice. I have handled all of them but own the Sage3 and Sage4.

frame lock with no steel insert is not for me, i got burned HARD
waring out the Boker Plus Epi Center in weeks.
they butchered Rexford epic design with horrible materials & then shrug away from warranty.
still fuming about that one, and want to forget frame-locks for a while.

wish the domino blue twill CF was more handsome like the sage.
