Hi, I just bought a P'kal for MBC purposes and was wondering how durable the knife is. It just seems that the plastic piece could break easily since the rod which the spring is around is alsoplastic. How about the lock? Is it in any real danger of failing? I am asking since my chinook 2 is having locking failures with just a small tap on the spine which i will address in another post. Thanks for the replies.

Hi CQC86,

Welcome to the Spyderco forum.

We've not had any problems with the ball-cage. It's pretty hi-tech stuff. Calling it "plastic" isn't fair to the material. We have another model coming out in a month or so with the same lock.

The P'kal is a very effective purpose built design. Snarc and his group have created a surpising hi-performer. Practice is suggested and I would suggest training with a trainer.

On the Chinook, we would prefer that you send it in to us. We get the R&D information and you get a knife that works.

Would that be the Manix 2? Was wondering when it was coming!

Ok Sal, I will send it in tomorrow. My unit is giving us the day off so I will have the time.
BTW, so far I really like the P'kal, I also think a Chinook with a wave feature would be wicked as well. Both are fantastic knives for SD.
