Hey friends!
I have a nice used Nessmuk looking for a new home. I changed the bevel from fully convex to more of a scandivex, very sharp and toothy. Some scratches from stropping and sharpening but otherwise I’ve barely used it. I love this one and it feels great in my XL mitts. Plus who doesn’t love bocote!!? Sheath is awesome, tough, and great retention. Comparison pic with Mora Garberg and Benchmade Bushcrafter. Asking PPGS 220 shipped USPS Priority, and I also do Venmo. No trades at this time. From the maker:
“Nessmuk: if you have never worked with bocote...it smells like pickles.
This is a bit of a one-off with the slightly longer blade and handle. Also the only one with the slight coke-bottle handle going on.
grind: convex (NOW MORE OF SCANDIVEX)
blade length: 4 1/4″
overall length: 9 1/2″ - Longer handle length for XL & XXL hands
steel: 1/8″ 80CrV2 @ 61 Hc
handle: Bocote over black and white G10
handle thickness: 4/5
hardware: triple loveless bolts and brass tube
sheath: includes hand made, tooled, right hand leather sheath
I began making PL knives in 2016. I've done leather work for over 20. I added kydex to my repertoire in the last few years. The heat treat on all of my carbon steel knives is done by me in a thermostatically controlled Evenheat knifemaking kiln. Each 80CrV2 blade goes through a 3 stage normalization before being heated to austenitic temperature and quenched in Parks 50 oil. Then it goes through a 2 stage tempering process. 80CrV2 Hardness is approx. 61 hc and my heat treat process produces a blade with extreme toughness and fine edge sharpenability. Scales are glued with West Systems G-flex epoxy. My aim is to produce heirloom quality tools with excellent craftsmanship that will provide a lifetime of enjoyment and service.”
