I'm looking for a good place to send out a few knives at a time for heat treatment. I'm looking to have steel types such as s35vn, d2, s90v, just about any kind of air quench steel. I basically just don't have the stuff to do it here. I'm looking for as many places as possible so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend Peter's Heat Treat with Brad Stallsmith or Tru Grit with Jeff Mutz.

Count, I see Jeff and Tru Grit aren't listed as heat treat providers in the standard newbie post. Might be worth adding them.

I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with these names. Are these people on the forums?

I have used Peter's to heat treat 52100. They did a great job.
I have also used Paul Bos heat treating for ATS-34 and CPM 154cm for the last 35 years. They have done hundreds of blades for me and do a great job.

Thank you all for the information. Another question that just popped into my head is should I send in my knife finished or should I leave some stalk left that I'll half to remove after heat treatment.

With my 52100 that I send to Peter's and my CPM 154cm that I send to Paul Bos heat treating I finish the knife to a hand sanded 400 grit. They do the heat treating in a oxygen free environment, so the blades I get back just have some slight discoloration on them. I then start with hand sanding 400 grit and finish. The knives come back RC tested and straight.
