Plain edged One Hand Trekker...

I opted for the Outrider. I wanted a plain edge blade and a scissors and was willing to sacrifice one handed opening to get them.

I'm not big on serrations,so I chose the standard trekker over the oht,but one hand opining would be great.

But then again with one hand knives I usually can't quit playing with them anyway:rolleyes:

I have a Rucksack and a OH Trekker. I almost bought the Trekker 2 or three times but then decided not to because i didn't want the serrations. But in the end i got it anyway with the intention of immediately removing the serrations. But they actually proved to be more useful than i thought so i kept it as is for about the first two months. Later i did remove them because as was said above they are not ideal for detail carving work. The thing is the 111mm frame sports only one blade so it has to be versatile and do EVERYTHING! If there was a second smaller blade like on the 94mm/84mm frames then i wouldn't mind the large blade being serrated. Actually i'm surprised Vic doesn't do that (serrated large blade/plain small blade) with the smaller framed models.
What i really want is a One handed (plain edge) Outrider!
:)

I have a serrated lockback vic. I hated the blunt tip since it was useless for point cutting, so I ground a point on it. And about the serrations, just sharpen them like they arent there and theyll go away :)

Glad to see I'm not alone. I've got a buddy that's a knife maker, might have him take my serrations off. That Wenger is interesting, thanks for the pics.

Feast your eyes on the Wenger site. It looks like they have developed a whole line of Ranger models--- this is new to me, but might be old news to others.

I would like to see a Trecker with:
  1. Large plain edge one hand opening blade
  2. Small blade
  3. Scissors
  4. Flat and Phillips drivers
  5. Reamer/awl
  6. Saw
  7. Firesteel in scale (bag the toothpick)
  8. Tweezers

Thanks for the link, dale. I really, really like those Range models and haven't seen them before. if I could get one of them with the basic 'extras' and a saw, with a OH blade, I'd be all over it. From the site it looks like the OH blade style really limits your choices. I'm glade that they at least removed the serrations from the blades, however.

I have one of the one handed trailmasters or trekkers and I never use it. At some point I'll grind off the serations. Dreadful design. Really the one handed opening is no big deal for me.

I carry this old Victorinox stag all the time. Wish they still made it. I have cleaned many caribou and whittled a lot of gear with this one.

Thats the only vic frame size i am missing! I almost won one just like yours on ebay a while back but a ebay sniper got it!
Oh well i will get one eventually.

Wait for one it's a great knife. I lost mine for two years in Pond Inlet. Found it at my hunting buddies house. Funny how that worked eh!

With my diamond sharpening kit I removed all of the serrations in about 45 minutes. Makes for a very sharp, thin edge. I carry it almost every day.
I also have a Rukus. One of the internet stores I buy from lists a PE Trekker (Victornox, no blade loop). Looks like a Rukus with a philips and frame lock.

Keep me in the loop. Those serrations work great on baling twine but suck for average use. I want a OH Locksmith!

I double the call for a oh locksmith. Locksmith is my favorite and a plain edge with one hand opening I would two in a heartbeart!!!!

My OHT is old enough it was called the "Trailmaster" still...I ended up not liking the serrations either and simply used my COARSE STONE to get rid of them! :) I worked the blade down in that area until they were smooth. The blade is a little narrower now, but it's also my daily carry for a pocket knife!

Just an option for all of you that want one without the serrations! ;)
