Plain utilitarian Titanium Chopsticks

I'm hoping someone here knows somewhere I could get plain, machined titanium chopsticks.

I'm talking about simple titanium rods, tapered a bit like regular chopsticks, possibly even squared at the part where they are held, though that's not essential. It would be nice if there were something decorative about them, like some grooves machined into the handle part.

I think I saw someone selling titanium chopsticks online somewhere but they were part WOOD -- that's a big no-no for my preference. As I said, I want plain ol' titanium rods.

If anyone WORKS with titanium here, are you taking custom orders for something like this? Unsure how much they'd cost, but it can't be that expensive to make these, right?

Thanks,

Blue skies,

From my experience in buying golf equipment - anything with the word "titanium" in the description translates to "expensive". ;)

(actually, I wouldn't mind a pair of Ti-sticks myself! )

i don't think the word "utilitarian" could ever be used to describe the titanium chopsticks. titanium chopsticks are extravagent, unnecessary, and in my opinion, very cool.

i got my set made by alan folts last week. i don't want to step on anyone's toes here... he seems to be very busy. but the sticks are VERY nice and of an acceptable price.

You and I are on the same wavelength. I did a search on the internet on Friday, as I was wishing the exact same thing. I even went as far as going to ebay to search, and of course ebay was fruitless. I hear R.W. Clark has made them, and I found an old post by K.V. Collucci that had some for sale, I think. His were made by Robert Marotz, a Moderator here, somewhere.

The Snowpeak ones look really nice, and easy to carry with you, but I too have a problem with the wooden tips. I've found stainless steel ones, but I worry about the possible tainting of the flavor. Yeah, I know all silverware is a type of stainless, so it shouldn't be a problem. Really, I just think Titanium chopsticks would be Way-Cool!

R.W. Clark's are awesome, and if you ask he will make them very plain. I had a pair that were plain Ti beadblasted except for the eatin' ends. They were squared. Sold 'em to Esav and regretted it every since.

So when I heard that Mr. Folts was making them I ordered some. Different, but just as nice and well done. Got an extra pair for the wife. Now she's looking for all kinds of Titanium gadgets. :D

If you want square ones go with Clark. If you want round go with Folts. You won't go wrong with either.

If it makes you feel any better, they found a good home :D They sit on my kitchen table so they're easy to find at mealtimes and often travel with me when I go out to eat.

What the chopsticks can't handle, my Ti spork can

It does help!

Glad you're enjoying them. Now I have his 'n hers, so it all turned out well!

I'll second the Folt ones. Have three pairs now, thanks to the wife stealing the first pair....

i find them a little heavy to eat with and use them mostly for food-prep.
Not me. They just as well as the pair I got from Alan. The spikey pair, however, makes eating, eh, "interesting". ;)

mine have the blunt ends! i prefer to eat with the wood ones that break down (snow peak, i forget?). the folts ones look great.

I like using titanium chopsticks, though I admit they are a bit extravagant and undoubtedly heavier than wood. If you don't mind the weight (somewhat compensated for by different size/taper), they can make excellent utensils.

I have not yet handled any from any of the above makers though so I can't vouch for their work.
