Planning Bush Bash II

The folks who attended the first Bush Bash ("BBI") had a good enough time that they would like to do it again and, hopefully, include some more W&SS folks. One thing that I really liked about our BBI was that it was on relatively lightly regulated Forest Service land. That meant that we could place our tents, vehicles, fire pits, etc. in any responsible location. We could also engage in outdoor activities that would not be acceptable near most organized campsites (target shooting, archery, etc.). I greatly enjoyed that freedom and would like to preserve it for the next gathering.

Just to start the ball rolling, I'm going to suggest the weekends of August 21-23 or August 28-30 for BBII. These weekends are before the resumption of most schools so people with kids should have more flexibility than in Sept. However, if you think a sooner or later date makes more sense, please chime in with it.

I would be perfectly happy returning to the same location as BBI. You can all see how pretty it was in the picture thread. The nearby Hartland Christian Camp says that summer temps at 4500-4900 ft. tend to run about 20 degrees cooler than the Valley floor so it should be warm but pleasant. However, I think we might get a better turnout if we could find a location close to the Central Coast, south of the Bay Area (I know Mtnfolk Mike won't fight me on this one :D). It would be closer to the Bay Area and maybe easier for far NorCal members to reach. Any suggestions that do not involve heavily regulated campsites like Montana de Oro?

To conclude, what would you be interested in?

DATE: (1) Aug. 21-23; (2) Aug. 28-30; (3) Other date---please specify.

LOCATION: (1) Sequoia NF (same as BBI);
(2) Central Coast---please make a suggestion;
(3) Other place---please specify.

Thanks for your input,

Awesome DWK2, thanks for getting this going :thumbup:

As of right now, I should be clear for either date in August, and would be down for any location (though since I am in the Bay Area as well, I'm partial to Central Coast :)).

I'm still on a bit of a buzz from the last one, I can't wait to do it again. I like both of those suggestions for locations.

right on Dave...:thumbup: thanks for getting the ball rolling... i think that August 28-30 would work for us... i'll have to double check with the misses...

i'm all for going to the same spot, or if someone else has another(closer) spot in mind, that would be cool too.... that last spot was great, we kind of more or less, did what we want...:)

I don't really care where, I'm in!!:D I'm pretty flexible so you guys can decide on the date and location.:thumbup:

you guys need to leave the southern portion of the state and enjoy the wild west that remains in California. :)

If you go out to the eastern half of SoCal, there is still some fairly "wild west" country. Unfortunately, it would not be convenient for NorCal folks (or very hospitable in August).

count me in.. I think both dates would be good for me... just need to make some planning. As david suggested before we can make BBII closer to northern CA and later on in the winter time closer to the SO Cali.. Anza Borrigo desert is Awsome in the winter time.
