I spotted this on a camping trip this weekend. I'm thinking it's Autumn-olive / Autumnberry. Anybody know if this is correct. I live in Georgia and it was growing in the north Georgia mountains. Thanks for any input.

That looks like all the autumn olive I've ever seen. The berries are spotted if you look closely. It's an invasive species not native to the area. I've heard many times that the fruit is edible, especially after a frost, but they have always been terribly astringent when I've tried them.

Thanks. Unfortunately I didn't get to give these a try because I wasn't sure what they were when I photographed them. Once I spotted these ones, I realized they were all over the place. Do you think waiting till later in fall would help with the bad taste? If they were paletable they would be a very abundant food source in this area. Thx
