So, Im looking into making this type of knife from the game love, CSGO, however, I have never worked with plastics for the handle so have no idea on the type I should purchase. Prefferably I would like a black strong handle thats really tough as I am intending to make this knife for real use not just display. Can anyone link me a page for the right material or at least the name? Also it would be a real help if someone could tell me the name of the types of pins if anyone knows, they're like socket button screws accept Im pretty sure they insert into one and other and tighten together bringing the scales and metal together. Furthermore, (I know this is dragging on but I've never used plastic and don't want to screw it up) but what would I use as a finish?

Many Thanks,

Joshua Eddolls

Matt R is correct. If you want a coarser pattern after shaping, get some canvas micarta. Linenen micarta will give you a finer pattern, and black paper micarta will be even finer yet as far as a "visual texture" is concerned. G10 is somewhat in the middle typically.

As far as the fasteners, it sounds like you are talking about corby rivets/bolts.

Check out USAKnifeMaker or Jantz supply, and you should find plenty of what you need.

Agree. You can get a very smooth finish with black canvas micarta with sanding too 400 then buff, and it's cheap.

The kind of fasteners you are looking for are a bit tough to find actually. They are called sex bolts, binding post screws, and Chicago screw. I would recommend looking at USa Knifemaker and Jantz supply as Andrew said. For the 'plastic' handle material, I think G-10 or Kirinite would be a fit for what you described.

Good luck and let us know where you end up.
