Plastic spacers on benchmades??

Ok I own four Benchmade knives and they are great knives. They cut for a long time between sharpening and are easy to sharpen when the need arises. But I don't understand the logic in using plastic for the spacers!!:confused i was glad to see that the Ares has a G-10 spacer. My mini-AFCK was dropped and the spacer cracked. It droped from my pocket not from a moving car or a building. Does it really cost that much more to use G-10 in the spacer and if so leave it out, make it an open back like the small Darkstar. Is Benchmade getting rid of the plastic spacers or is there a reason for them?

Thanks ...

For what it's worth, the 705 has a G10 spacer, but I've heard that the 750 doesn't. I want to get rid of the spacer on my 705 and replace it with pins, if I can figure it out.

www.benchmade.com has a forum where you might be able to get a reply from the company. Hope this helps.

My 905 has a g-10 spacer, but the spacers on my AFCK and 710 are plastic.

It's too bad, really, the plastic has a sort of cheep, molded look to it.
