Plate quenching question

Would it be better to taper the tang of a @30V knife AFTEr it is plate quenched? If I do it before I plate quench will it warp or will the presure of the plates bend the knife?

Thanks for any insight you guys give me.

It is my firm belief that tapering a tang afterwards is the way to go.
