Plate quenching

I have read a lot of references to plate quenching but have never heard many details on the process itself. I briefly ran through the stickies and did not find anything specific. Anyone care to give a brief description of how they do this and point out any key details?

plate quenching is used for the air hardening steels . The blade is put between to large plates right out of the oven to cool . The nice part is if you leave flats on the blade , the plates with weights on them help to reduce warpage .
