This question is for the guys who grind using the pyro ceramic platens when you use your platen do you leave the corners crisp like at a 90 degree angl or do you radious them a little before mounting themon the steel platen.

I just rounded both top-bottom to let the belt ride smoothly. Works for me! It will be easier on your belts too. You will love it:D

Happy grinding,

Chris

The top and bottom should be rounded off, otherwise the top edge can catch a belt joint and pop it.

I leave the side edges square. I generally will "wrap" the belt around the side edges for finishing out plunges, and just the fact that the belt is over the side edge gives me that small radius I like. I think it's just more versatile to leave the side edges crisp.

I also round the top and bottom and leave the edges crisp.

+2 on this set up

I have a 9" platen. I left the top third crisp for sharper plunges and radiused the bottom 2/3 to a nice curve for sweeping plunges. Seems to work out well.

Well I ask because I use a platen and knock of the edges to a slight radius but was wondering how people do that uniformly and by how much if you do it at all.
