i see that some of you put glass on your platen why?
i just got a kmg an want to know what i have to be aware of.

Helps eliminate the dreaded "belt bump" , you can use high temp glass or order the good stuff from Darren, I'd recommend getting the good stuff.

You won't regret it. I put one on last week and can already tell a huge difference!

The main reason IMHO for using the ceramic liner is the platen will wear rather rapidly while grinding and no longer be flat,the glass will stay flat for a long tme plus reduce drag.

It also reduces heat build up dramatically. Without it the blade would be too hot to touch if I tried to run it more than two passes. With it, I can get 2 to three passes between bucket cooling it.
