hi guys,:do most of you round your platen off on the sides where you do the plunge cut or ????.any advice would be helpful.since visting a real shop, and a little tutoring my grinds are looking good to me$$$$yea, thanks for this forum,,,,,,royboy
Roy, if I were using my platen for flat grinding,I w/radius the edges, but since I dont, others that do might have better info.BTW,when your platen starts to dish out, just grind it flat on a disk to true it up again, that is if you are not using some sort of surface like glass etc.Glad to hear that your grinding is progressing nicely.
I rounded the edges on both of my platens. I used the grinder set up for slack belt, and I beveled both sides and the top edge. On the sides the bevels are fairly sharp to allow for a clean shoulder where I plung in. The top bevel helps the belt transition onto the platen with less friction.
