fellas, i'm looking to plate a couple of knife blades in a flat black, similar to becker blades. so-smooth down to what grit and will the coating cover up
any little tool marks?

Plating is not what you are looking for. Most blades are painted. Plating won't cover any flaws-it makes them show up worse. There is no flat-black plating that is readily available.

I go down to at least 240 then sandblast with 70 grit when doing alumahyde, gunkote or cerakote.

I sent a blade for flat black Cerakote. It pretty much filled the engraved names on the blade. Other than that it turned out great. Jess
