I got a hall pass today to work in the shop, from my wife, who's out with her visiting girl-friend, buying a car....(yep, I'm taking full advantage of not just the time but the psychology leverage - if you're married you know what I mean) - so I'm working on a big batch of 210mm gyutos. I know they're not going to be the same, but that's fine; in fact that's what I want. One or two (hopefully no more) might get goofed; the rest I'm going to play with. They're 3 different stocks: 2 80CrV2/1080+, and 3 in 52100 but one's an .078 and the other two are .110. SO: while I have some free time, and no client in mind, I just want to see where they each take me....
I've got a bunch of wood for scales: stabilized redwood burl, mallee burl, thuya burl, sindora, and curly birch. Got some black G10 too for a liner. So: I'm just gonna play. No commissions, no custom orders, nothing in particular in mind: I'm gonna make me some chef's knives, and see what the gods - and the wood, and the steel - inspire.
