I was helping my dad move some furniture and i had my sheathe knife to cut the stuff(wasnt assembled) and the security guard saw me and instead of freaking out or anything he simply patted his shirt and nodded at me. I kinds connected the dots and put my shirt over it and he sniled.lets hear your pleasant encounters

Are you sure he wasn't patting HIS knife under his shirt? As a way of saying "I've got mine right here".

Either way, the guard saw the value of your knife...and approved.
It's nice when folks are logical.

My boss and I are busy setting up a new guest house at a camp and opening boxes the other day I flipped open my spiderco and she said "is that a knife? I love a man that carries a knife. My father always carried a knife".

I pulled out a small custom slipjoint at lunch for some fruit and my client (female naval officer) complimented me on how sweet it looked.

It turns out my new neighbor (just moved in) is a fan of both guns & knives so that's pretty pleasant I guess... ;)

Certainly makes it nice to have nice convo's about gear and show him what the daily carry is.:thumbup::thumbup:

Had a gas station employee spot my pocket clip. I was convinced she thought I was gonna try to hold the place up, but she just wanted a look at my Manix 2 XL. Turns out she got into knives during a stint in the service. Told me she had always carried SOG before, but just started to get into Spydercos. Pleasant conversation all around.

When I was in high school there was a couple teachers that knew I carried a knife and would ask to borrow it from time to time. On the other hand there was a PE teacher that confiscated my knife a couple times, then gave it back. I wasn't supposed to have it, but didn't think about it when I put it in my pocket. It was a rural school so I was not unique in carrying a knife.

I'm in high school. If you have anything remotely resembling a weapon anywhere near school property, they will lock down the entire campus and call in a SWAT team.

Seeing that cloud, I was gonna revise the headline to read..." God suspended for five days."
Of course, then I realized that HE was kicked out permanently some years ago...

I just laughed, but it really is sad.

I got to be pretty good friends with one of the security guards where I work. He even came to me for advice on a knife to buy for his Dad. When he got a different assignment, and left, I gave him a Kershaw Bump as a parting gift.
