Please let me know what I should add, remove, increase or decrease.

This is what I carry in my Camelbak pouch which carries 3 liters of water

1. poncho
2. space blanket
3. whistle
4. Spyderco dragonfly knife (I know it is small but I live near NY city and I travel alot to places with severe restrictions on blade lengths and fixed blades)
5. Arc AAA-P flashlight
6. 25 feet 550 paracord
7. small compass
8. small water proof case with PJ cottonballs and a flint
9. 1 extra AAA battery for Arc flashlight.
10. Bic Lighter
11. Small first aid kit
12. Elastic bandage
13. 2 fish hooks
14. 2 square feet aluminum foil
15. 3 feet duct tape
16. bandana
17. p-38
18. iodine
19. 3 Gatorade pouches
21. small bug repellant
22. small sun block
23. mini bike tool kit, mini pump, and spare tube (only when mountain biking)
24. mini 5 inch pry bar

Similar to what I carry. I would add one of the smaller/lighter multi tools. I pack the Leatherman original.

Glad to see the poncho and space blanket a the top of your list!

I think the only things that you are missing is Micropur tablets and a signal mirror. Other than that, its a pretty well rounded kit. I guess, maybe try to include a SAK like a farmer?

You got all the basics

Fish hooks but no fishing line? I suppose you can fish with the inner strands of paracord but a bit of fishing line sure would be nice.

Maybe add something to boil water in so you have a secondary purification method to the iodine tabs plus a way to get BTUs into your body.

Extra socks maybe too. Possibly a candle. Maybe a trashbag for extra sheltering.

I decided on Iodine instead of micropur because I can use it for first aid as well. I might not ever be in a survival situation, but I know for a fact I will injure myself doing outdoor sports. I also did not include a signal mirror because I have the knife blade and space blanket.

Is my thinking correct or should I be adding those two items

I second the socks and metal cup. A winter hat will be very helpfull any time of year, so will warm gloves.

A bigger folder as long as you dont flash it around when was the last time you got checked?

I carry some N95 masks, gloves and hand sanitizer now for urban areas as you never know.

If you carry iodine make sure its providone and or betadine.

High energy snacks.

Signal mirror.

A map of the area and beyond. Cash and change a mix for about $100. Cell phone.

Other than that its a great kit, congrats.

Expand the fishing kit; you could put a small kit in a 35mm film container.

Double the amount of paracord

Find lithium batteries for light, usually have ten year shelf life.

Leatherman tool

Add small photon light also, clipped to shoulder strap

Metal cup (mentioned earlier)

small box Lipton cup of soup

I would even thrown in a couple of tea bags for the heck of it. Maybe a piece of extra heavy duty foil to use for cooking?

I also highly recomend adding a few pills. Some anti poopie pants tablets and some pain killers with asprin in them in case you have to battle a fever.

there are probably a dozen or more thgins you could add to your pack, but you just have to prioritize...think very hard about where your going with your apck,a nd what you really need...the best item you cna add to yoru apck is somethgin thats mulitfuntional...try to stick with items like that so every inch taken up in your pack counts! Fishing line is good addition if your going to carry hooks...you might want to add a very small rubber worm just in case you do need to fish and can't find any grubs or worms...a fake piece of bait is a good addition if your adding fishing stuff...but if you never go where there is much water ditch the fishing gear and add something more usefull instead...your kit should reflect where you go and what you cna use it for...but I ahve to say your looking good whith what you got already! cheletr is probably most imprtant, then water, then food, in the winter you obviously need to stay warm, so don't travel with coton clothes, its horrible for survival and if wet you will most likely not survive a cold night...even in the summer!

dd,

That is is really good kit, but I would make a couple of suggestions. I think for most of us, our PSK is a work in progress, so periodically changing things out or adding new items shouldn't be seen as discrediting your kit.

First, if you're counting on using the foil to make a water boiling container, you'd better practice it first. I have been dissappointed in the results. A metal container, such as a canteen cup, a Guyot bottle, or even a storage tin would be much more usable.

Second, depending on what your plans for the space blanket are, you may want to at least upgrade it to a space bag or an emergency bivy. Space blankets are very hard to wrap yourself in to get or stay warm. If funds allow, I would consider adding a small SilNylon tarp for shelter purposes. They pack amazingly small and provide water and wind proof barrier

Third, a proper signal mirror will be visible MUCH further, and be much easier to aim, than a knife blade or the space blanket.

Fourth, duct tape is an amazingly versitile item to have. You can use it to repair gear or clothing, patch yourself up, or in the construction of a shelter.

Fifth, having a few hard candies wouldn't take up much room, will give you some energy, and can help keep you mouth moist with saliva.

Sixth, I would also recommend incerasing your paracord. I know you can pull individual strands, but cordage is just too useful to come up short.

Garbage...pure garbage.

Kidding! Its very good!

If you carry it with you around NYC, I'd have some backup cash in there too.

And, of course, your cell phone. Maybe a small radio for traffic, transit, news, weather info.

Of course if you only use it in the woods...you seem set.

Thanks for the tip guys, I am on the search for a metal cup, I looked at a sierra cup but would like something smaller, but I like the design aspect.

I did not carry fishing line because I thought I would use the inner strand of the paracord. However I never thought about adding a rubber worm.

I would love to increase the knife size but I do travel alot and I do get checked by customs. I also love high performance cars which tend to get me in trouble from time to time, warranting a check

I plan on increasing the length of paracord, adding a signal mirror, and upgrading the space blanket

Regarding the photon light, I had one, it was not durable and a pain to replace batteries and thats why I bought the ARC.

I did forget to mention I carry cash, a cell phone,Carabiner, and the FAK includes some pills and medicine.

I will probably ditch the foil

Should I add a rope saw, do they even work?

anything else???? you guys been helpful, thanks

Sierra cups are horrible for anything but drinking out of.
they are shallow and spill easy, poor outdoor design IMHO.

An issue canteen cup is a much better option and cheaper too.
