Please educate me - Damascus vs S30V?

I see that CRK offers for some models having the blade in Damascus instead of the standard S30V - it looks nice (I especially like the ladder type), but are there real advantages against the S30V?

For me, the advantage is purely asthetic - damascus looks outstanding, particularly a blade paired with ivory.
