I have this knife and it seems very well made with nice handles and sheath but not sure the make. I posted this in the Bernard Levine's forum and they suggested it might be a sterile Busse and to ask you guys. Can you help me ID the make and blade metal type? There are NO markings anywhere not even under the scales. The blade is almost a 1/4" thick.

If there is anything else that you need please let me know.

Don't let gimmejr fool you. It's not worthless.

It's worth $5.00-$10.00.

PM on the way with an offer of $15.00 to lock in the deal.....I mean sale.

:D

Just got a suggestion that its an SHBA. From the pics I found on Google they are identical. zKnives article.

Anything else I should look for or know? How can I know if it is INFI steel or A2? Are all of the INFI SHBA knives 1/4" thick?

Don't listen to these guys!!!

It's worth at least fifty buck!!! However, due to the recession and recent economic hardships most people wil be unwilling to give you more than 25 or 30 dollars for it. But since it is the holiday season I'll be a nice guy and take it off your hands for forty dollars.

These guys are all full of BS. It is a Straight Handle Badger Attack and could be INFI or A2, can't really tell from the pictures. Because it is used and you have messed with the handles, it is probably worth between $400 - $700, just depends on the buyer.

Sorry to disappoint, but this one is for keepers. I have wanted a Busse and this is the perfect size.... funny that now I know what it is I will give it more 'respect'. Any way to know if it is INFI steel?

Shouldn't you be shoveling your driveway.:D

Welcome to the Busse forum!

Yes, that is an old Badger Attack, or SHBA. A very collectible knife, a great find, congratulations.

One of our resident expert will have to help determine if it is A2 or INFI. They can also help with the current market value, as your PM box is no doubt filling with offers to buy. Don't rush in, wait to be educated for your own protection.

Since it is already used, you can have fun beating on it. :D

Stick around, we're a fun bunch.

"In Philadelphia it's worth fifty bucks...."

While this is fact finding... I won't be a Hog sucker-noob for long. I am enjoying the forum and look forward to more. I have a small collection and I plan on getting a Fallkniven laminated blade and make a micarta handle myself, Spyderco Military (S30V in G-10), and some Cold Steel Tomahawks to custom finish myself.

Since I am new to Busse any thoughts on if I should polish off the rest of the black coating and give the steel a satin finish? What is a good way to freshen up the micarta handles?

Lucky you, brother. That is a very desirable knife. Don't let these dirty ol' hogs fool you. That there is a keeper, and quite possibly an heirloom knife. Put it this way: whether it is A2 (which I suspect it is) or INFI, one of your great-grandchildren could be using that knife when you are dust and memories. Wherever or however you got it, that there's a keeper.

Now, if you want insight as to year of make and steel, find Papathud's profile here on BF, and send him a PM with a pic or two. Andre is old guard, and a bit of a specialist on the SHBA's such as what you have there.

Do yourself a favor, though: come through from time to time and make yourself known. In my years on various forums, I have never met a better bunch of people than right here on this forum. And while we certainly have our quirks as a community, and our somewhat cultish personality, we watch out for each other and do our best to make this place enjoyable and informative. This here is as close as you can get to family on the anonymous inter-forum netweb. Welcome.

A well used SHBA! Very nice and very sought after blade! Very useful tool you have there. Looks great just the way it is in the picture :)

Here's a picture of a somewhat cleaner one.
