I have searched high and low and need help. I have and use a variety of Masters of Defense knives. I recently sent 2 of my favorites (the Trident and Tempest) in to Blackhawk for some love, cleaning, sharpening, new screws. Unfortunately, Blackhawk does not have any of the specs for the MOD line and was unable to find suitable pivots for the knives. If anyone else has had this issue or could provide me with any helpful info I would be very grateful. I have checked all the knife making websites I can find and made calls to these companies but am dead in the water as I do not know the correct sizes I need (the old pivots were tossed and poor replacements were put in so I do not have an accurate go by.) I have tried everything I can think of, if anyone can point me in the right direction, again I would be most appreciative.

Measure the diameter of the hole in the blade and scales, then go to knifekits.com and try to match it up. also usaknifemaker supply has some pivots.

There also might be a couple custom knifmakers that could reasonably repair the knives for not much money.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I have visited those 2 sites already, but am limited by my inability to get a proper measurement (the repair department at BH actually went there also) and the fact that I no longer have the original, correct pivots (the repair department tossed them.) I have made some attempts to find a custom knifemaker willing to touch another's product with negative results. Do you have any reccomendations on a reliable one who would be willing to do the job? Again, I thank you for taking the time to look at this post and give a reply.

Pivots are not terribly expensive. If you're up to it, you could always order a few different sizes, find the one thats slightly too large, put it in a drill chuck and spin the drill while sanding down the pivot slowly until its the correct size.

As for finding a maker, I'd suggest posting in the knife makers section here. Right now is a good time for this sort of repair as there is healthy population of "knife pimpers" who excel at this type of work.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I had not thought of trying to modify the pivots on my own.
