Please help me pick a new EDC

This is my EDC.

I carry it on my belt. It gets used many times a day for all kinds of stuff with no problems whatsoever. I tightened the thumb stud once after a couple years. I paid $80 -90 for it and worth every penny. I carry it horizontal on my belt right over my right pocket flap forward. I can get it out one handed fast and easy and back in the same. It is extremely well made IMHO. I seriously ask anyone looking for a reliable trustworthy tool to consider this one.

Yup, I'll second what Red said. The Buck 277 Folding Alpha Hunter is my most used and favorite knife. They are overbuilt for strength, great looking with the Rosewood scales and the sharpness is second to none. Highly recommended.

Spyderco Delica.

Great steel (VG-10), high quality construction (made in Japan),
and a very comfortable, slim carry.

Griptilian is great too, but a bit too "fat" in the pocket for my taste.

In addition to the above recommendations (of which I like the Delica most), there is one incredibe bargain knife you have to check out: the Browning Icestorm is a very cheap $26.99 here and it's in fact made by Mcusta (actually it is in essence the same knife as the much more expensive Mcusta stingray). Solid yet smooth and really nice VG10 steel. It's one of the best knife bargains I know of.

If this isn't your style I would recommend the Spyderco Delica (at least double the price though).

A tip of the hat to you Dagon,.....my Ice Storm arrived today! For the money, it truly is a "incredible bargain"! I only wish I had gone with my first instincts and ordered the four that I had in my shopping cart, before emptying it and only ordering the one I just received. I'll be placing a order for another three in the next day or two. A amazing knife for the money!

For your next one that fits your criteria, take a look at Kershaw's Mini Cyclone (or the full-sized model). There's a nice feature about it...you can turn the SpeedSafe off if you want! There's a web site that is selling them for $ 25 ($ 34 for the big one) plus shipping!
You wouldn't happen to have that link, would you? ;)

Well, I was out of town for a few days and when I got back today, my new EDC knife had arrived. It is a Kershaw ENER-G. I like it a lot. It is just the right size IMHO. My Kershaw Scallion was a bit too small and my CRKT M16 was a bit too big. For you Kershaw fans, it's almost exactly half way between the Scallion and the Leek in size. My only very minor complaint was that I had to tinker with the pivot screw to get it to open well. As it came, it was very tight and no matter how much pressure you put on the tab, it would not flip open to the lock position. After tweaking it a bit, it works perfect. As I said, only a minor complaint since it is designed to be adjusted and once adjusted it was fine. Here's a pic of it posing with my EDC pistol.

For those curious, here's a link to the specs. If you want something bigger, the ENER-G II is a larger knife, but for EDC I think the standard ENER-G is just right.
