Long story short, I need scales for my Nilakka. I sent my Spyderco Nilakka scales and screws to a guy in California who I met online. He said he could make some nice carbon fiber ones for me, but needed the scales and screws to make/shape the CF ones. I sent everything (scales & screws) to him almost 4 months ago. I have since been unable to get in touch with him over three months now - mail or email or phone. The mobile phone number he originally have me is also out of service. I think it would be safe to assume that I was ripped off.

I contacted Spyercco about sending in my knife plus the $25 required for a repair (according to their website). I received this response today:

"I’m very sorry but we do not sell or replace scales.

Thank you and have a great day,

Charlynn

I emailed them back and asked about sending in the knife and they put the scales on for me.

"Sorry scale we do not even have the scales here. The knife is not made here in Golden so unfortunately we don’t have any even if it were an option.

Thank you and have a great day,

Charlynn

QUESTION: Can or would anyone sell me some replacement scales (new or used)? I would also consider custom made ones. I will of course pay. Please let me know if you can. I haven't been able to carry or use this beautiful knife for almost 4 months now and it's killing me :(.

As for resolving this with Spyderco, I am pretty much done dealing with them on this issue and I was hoping someone else could help me.

Thanks

I'm going to move this to our forum asking for custom knife work. We have a number of excellent customizers in this community who can make scales.

What you need to do is start a thread and share your experiences in the Feedback section as well. Not the reply from Spyderco, it's safe to say most folks he know that if you disassemble the knife or attempt to modify it, they won't try and help as the warranty is gone. This person you sent the scales to is more disheartening.

Good idea, thanks.

I will definitely post info about the fraudulent incedent. At this point I really just need some scales.

UPDATE - Charlynn from Spyderco emailed me contact information to a local (Colorado) craftsman who might be able to make me some replacement scales. Still waiting on the reply. I thought that was pretty cool for her to no just forget about me.

I ended up making my own wooden scales. Consider the issue and request closed.
