given your parameters I would look at cold steel. They are using good steel, have lightweight handles and plenty of sturdy locks and easy one hand opening. And the company make lots of blade shapes and many large knives.
I would take a look at the Spyderco Endura, Cold Steel Broken Skull, and Cold Steel Code 4 knives. These have 5 inch handles and should be a good fit.
If you save your money, Spyderco has a new Police 4 coming out that has a very long handle and long blade, yet is light weight, too.
I recommend the The Spyderco Manix XL. same size as Military, wider leaf shaped blade. Easy one hand open and close and best of all it looks great. One of my favorites. You can pick them up used between $80 - $100. Well worth it.
For $54. I have two of their other knives and highly recommend them.
It's kind of a reverse-tanto sheepsfoot kind of thing, don't know if that appeals to you.
It sure is big though.
I have the H9 Takin from real steel. a better choice would be the Real Steel H6 blue sheep or the H6 plus. The difference is that one is a liner lock and the 2nd is a frame lock. Both are great knives and are as smooth as silk. Amazing knives for a Chinese. I have 5 of them and can't find a single complaint about any of them. They are an amazing company. The Kizer G-10 intrepid is also a great knife for the price and it has bearings. Also as smooth as silk, Its a flipper. And last but not least The new ontario rat 1 in D@. You can get it in G-10 or CF. both in your price range and also as smooth as silk.
Good luck choosing, their are so many large knives in that size and price range that it boggles the mind.
