Hi all,

I recently purchased a Buck 855 Bravo Rescue Knife & Sheath knife from eBay, and believe it to be a counterfeit. Could anyone please help confirm or deny this according to the photographs.

Thanks in advance.

I agree. The giveaway for me is the blade pivot pin. The one on your knife is typical of those I've seen on other counterfeits.

Here's a fake Buck (the larger one) that has the exact same pivot pin.

The Buck logo on the sheath dosn't look right.Did you buy this knife recently?

The pivot is always a dead givaway on those crappy knive-check the pivot on the Dorado, that is Buck design.

I looked it up just to conferm what everybody has said and I aggree its not a buck. The thumb stud is wrong, the pivit pin is deffinately bad and that area plumb pointed out isn't even on the real one, in addition the 855 has a straight edge not serrated. Sorry you got a Cluck not a Buck, contact Pay Palls and file a complaint contact the seller and have him give you your money back. Do something

Agreed. Since I only received the knife yesterday and knew straight away it was a coutnerfeit fake, I've already filed a dispute with Paypal and sent the seller a polite email asking for a refund (plus costs to send the knife back to him). I also sent an email with pictures to BUCK USA knife company for actual confirmation as evidence if needed.

The seller will need to handle this carefully, since my own investigations turned out they are a brick and mortar pawn shop using eBay as a sales outlet. I don't think they really want police and federal agencies poking around their paperwork and goods.

We'll see what happens and I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks for all your input and opionions.

Several guys here on the Buck forum try to notify ebay when obvious counterfeits show up for sale so people don't lose their hard earned money.Sometimes they shut it down other times they don't.If you could give us the seller name we will check out future sales in case he does it again.A few sellers could be clueless but most of them know they're selling counterfeits.Good thing you took action in a timely manner.

For the moment, I'm focusing on getting my money back. It wasn't much, but more the principle.

I'm giving the seller the benefit of the doubt before I take any further actions - which will be dictated by the sellers timely cooperation and professionalism.

Some advice, if you do a BUCK Bravo Rescue 855 knife search in eBay Australia and find one that looks like mine from the photos, that might be the same seller (especially if they are a pawn shop).

I recommend against purchasing it.

Update:

After 3 days of no emails, I've decided to upgrade the Paypal dispute to a claim.

This is the email Paypal sent me:

The seller has submitted an explanation describing the disagreement with this claim. PayPal will evaluate all available information, including the original listing and both the seller and buyer statements. A final decision will be made on this claim in accordance with our User Agreement.

We will notify you if further action is required.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Thanks,

I'd love to know what excuse they are using. Looks like I'll need to also contact Victorian State, and Australian Federal Police and Customs. Unblievable they would want to be investigated for selling counterfiet goods over $54.95 AUD.

And it looks like they are trying to sell more counterfiet Buck knives:

Will update as soon as I know anything more.

Cheers all!

Welcome to the Buck forum Rogue.Sorry this happened to you,I didn't know you got that knife on the down under ebay.I was wondering because the guys on the forum have put a big dent in the U.S. ebay Buck counterfeits lately.I know it's hard to believe but most of the people selling fakes know exactly what they're doing. Please keep us posted and Good Luck.

Sorry to see that someone else is selling counterfiets and sorry that you ended up with one. I hope your claim goes well.
Another item to consider is that most of the fakes I have seen all come in that style of box. Usually the "label" is printed on the box on fakes whereas we use an adhesive label.
Many thanks to our Forum Friends that send links to counterfiet auctions!!!:) Most of the time we can at least have the auction shut down.

I have posted this before, China has no restrictions on selling conterfiets, including coins. Educate yourself by doing some research, then do not support knife conterfieters, chinese or any other "ese!"

Rsearch is helpful, but experience is often the best teacher. I will definately be more cautious in the future with anything stamped U.S.A on it.

I could see this seller mistakingly selling a one off chinese counterfiet, but to post another auction with 3 available tells me they are aware of this. That's why I notified Australian Customs. Hopefully an investigation will reveal this guy is selling more counterfiet goods from his brack and mortar business made in China and he'll receive a several thousand dollar fine. Hopefully, that'll teach this eBay scammer a lesson.

I say you are too nice, to me the guy is a theif thinking if he gets caught, they may take off the item. I am sure the guy thinks he will never go to jail, which by the way, is where sellers of counterfiets should be.

I actually agree with your statement. However, I think it's important to establish intent. In this case, I bought an item listed as a single quantity and it did have USA on the blade. I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe the seller actually thought it was a Buck knife made in the USA.

What changed the situation in my mind is the lack of response to my emails, and the seller relisting three more of the exact same knives. This proved to me he had every intention of selling a counterfiet Buck made knife, which fits my definition of criminal beahvior by way of using decpetion to acheive financial gain and commiting online fraud.

This is why I not only contacted Paypal and eBay (I'm stunned the currnet auction is still ongoing), but also Western Australia Police and Australian Customs (he most likely would have had to have imported the knives at some stage).

So, while I may be a nice guy initially, this seller has picked the wrong guy to scam.
