I have just recieved a black dagger, about 11 inches long that is all black, very thin double edge blade, on the blade it says, J. Nowill and sons, Sheffield England, established A.D.1700, that is the information on the blade, I dont know anything about this knife or the maker of it, if anyone knows the value of this knife, or of the maker, please let me know, I am really interested, thanks.

The maker is listed in Geoffrey Tweedale's "The Sheffield Knife Book." Its an old line knife making family business which produced knives from 1700 until the 1960s.

On the knife ... can you post a picture?

Thanks for the help guys, I dont have a camera right now, but as soon as I get one I will put a picture up, thanks again. take care.
