Hi,
I've just created an account on this site because I really need the help from knife connaisseurs.

I usuallly carry around with me a knife I inherited from my great-uncle who died from cancer a few years ago.
Losing him really shook me and you can pretty easily understand how attached I was to this very small pocket knife.

But I don't know how I seem to have lost it a few days ago. I've searched three times over my whole house and I'm now pretty certain I'll never be able to find it again.
Hence why I come to you, I want to buy the same knife from wherever it is possible to be able to carry a small part of him with me again.

I unfortunately don't have a picture of the knife but here is it's description as well as I can do it:
It was a small sized wooden handle folding knife with a leopard engraved on the blade, brass accents and a back lock for the blade.
If I'm not mistaken there was also finger grooves in the wood handle.
(By small I mean really small, when folded it was fitting in the small pocket of my jeans)

Extremely similar to this one I found on ebay except for the lack of a leopard engraving and finger grooves:

Hoping you guys can help me find it,

Best regards,

Turn over every chair in your house where it might have lodged in a cushion or deeper. I lost a custom in a recliner and a year later the house cleaner somehow managed to find it.
Yeah, that's the first thing I thought, I tried to remove ever cushion from my sofa, bed, etc... but no luck. As I travelled thru Paris the same day I think I have to have lost it somewhere in either the transports or the city but I contacted the companies I travelled with and both the local authorities and places I visited but nothing sadly...

Buck did a 110 with finger grooves and maybe they did the smaller 120 with them as well.

My guess is a Puma as well. But I didn't see anything with finger grooves in that style of knife.

That is the trouble with using an heirloom. But the only way to really enjoy it is to take the risk and use it as intended. Too many heirlooms sit in boxes or drawers.

I’m typing this because I hope you don’t have any regrets. I hope you find a replacement and then find the original.

When I throw out a chair or couch. I completely disassemble it, it’s amazing what can fall out. I do it so I can fit it into my trash bin, but it is an effective way to fing list items.

A couple wild guesses.

This first knife has the word "Leopard" with a leopard head stamped on the blade. Lockback, wood handles, brass bolsters, finger grooves. It measures 5" open length. If it is this one, I don't think you will be able to find one as this is the only picture of one I could find.

This one is a Parker/Frost brand. Obviously no finger grooves. It measures 3 5/8ths" open length.

Thanks a lot everyone, I've looked at pretty much all of the Buck and Puma line up but yeah as you said nothing matched with the finger grooves I remember it having.
Now, I can improve my description. It had a clip point blade and was about 5" when opened also it definitely had finger grooves.

OH MY GOD !
I'm 98% sure the top one is the one I'm looking for ! Have you got it's name/model nb or anything ?
I know you said you think I can't buy it anymore but I can always try.
Thanks so much !

The brand is "Leopard", I see other knives of different styles with the same logo stamped on the blades. Do a Google search for "Leopard Goal knife". That's the only one I could find. I don't know what the "Goal" reference is to, as I don't see the word "Goal" associated with any of the other Leopard brand knives I've seen. But who knows, maybe "Goal" is the model name. The pic I posted was the only pic I could find.

Good luck. Glad I could possibly help in some way. I hope you're able to find your uncles knife.

After some reverse image search, I ended up finding it on these sites but sadly it is out of stock and as in your picture the logo is off:

- (similar but the handle looks different) https://www.couteaux-shop.com/product-page/couteau-léopard-goal

I found another pic of one, in a box set of other Leopard brand knives. From what I gather Leopard is a French knife brand. This set was sold, but maybe there are more out there to be found.
This makes a lot of sense, it would be probably be French as he lived in France. I'll try to work out if this set is still being sold by anyone either new (I doubt it) or used.

I found one with the original logo which was on the knife here (but no finger-grooves this time): https://www.leboncoin.fr/ad/collection/2741719386

I FOUND IT !!!!!

Do a Google search for "Leopard Goal knife".
This was the key, as I knew it was probably French I looked it up in our local facebook market place and spot on it was the first result.

Here is a pic of the knife:

I'll contact the seller and try to buy it. I'll give you a final update whenever I receive it.

Thanks a lot to all of you guys, you are the best !
