The type or style of the knife is a Balisong or butterfly knife. It originates from the Philipines (I think) and was used for self defense and everyday utility tasks. Typically when we see something made in Pakistan, we think low quality knife. But if it is that old, that may not be the case

Oh ye of great faith.

Looks like a balisong from the 70s or 80s. Its a manila folder style (Latch is on the bite handle). And could be worth something.

Generic flea market balisong looks like to me.

^^This^^
They are often in movies for to show how badass knives can be! They are more for self defense and mall ninjas. In reality with out proper training they are just as much of a hazard for the users as the offender.

This is a cheapo flea market balisong or what some call butterfly knives. This knife is probably from the 80's or 90's at the earliest and is garbage, it was probably no more than 5$ brand new.
They still make these, but not as much as they used to as the Pakistani shops have shifted more to gaudy looking haunting type fixed blade, large fantasy Bowie's and traditional pocket knives. Basically the same type of knives they've always made, but with more of a shift to Damascus Steel and trying to make sure they look fancier.

It looks to me like the latch is not on the bite handle. It looks to me like the latch is on the safe handle.
