From The Moderator:

Folks, please look at the date on a thread you pull up when searching. Reading these for information is a great thing, but posting advice or a response on treads that are one to ten years old is pointless. Do the Moderators a favor and look at the OP date and date of last posts before replying.

And if you new folks ( and a lot of older members) will fill out your profile and enable email/PM, we can let you know privately.

There are certainly lots of useless bumps of old threads. Like "nice handle you have there" on a knife thread last posted on years ago. There are a few that still make sense to bump if you have a relevant question. On another forum I frequent, the software asks you if you're sure you want to post in a thread of a certain age, like over 6 months old.

That's one of the daily hazards of the interwebs, isn't it- getting into a conversation that isn't a conversation! Usually it's because the people you think you're talking to are too busy yelling at each other to actually communicate- in this case it's because the participants have moved on and are all soaking up sun in Cancun. :)

I am SO putting a reminder on my calendar to resurrect this thread on Stacy's 65th birthday. :D

LOL. I was thinking of looking up a thread from several years ago that said "don't bump old threads" and then bumping it to the top. We're a snarky bunch, sometimes.
