so I can get an idea for wrapping my Mule 2 when it arrives. I had a beautiful handle put on my Mule 1 by Ray the Bigfoot, but on this one, I plan to cord wrap it and use it as intended to cut stuff. I think I'll duct tape up some cardboard and make a crude pocket sheath for it as well. Thanks

I can't find the big thread where we posted pics of our 52100 MTs, but here are my pics:
(click them to see the full-size, I don't think 56k people would like it if I had put all the full-size pics)

Luckily, I had no idea what I was doing and had no instructions so I wouldn't know I was doing this all wrong. ;)

My first Mule, complete with cardboard and duct tape sheath.

I preferred this method myself!!!

I have been wrapping knives in the Japanese style for quite some time. Unfortunately when I moved from Florida to Tennessee last year I was not able to bring all of my equipment with me so my work is limited.

I used black sharkskin under my Mule wrap. I also use rayskin as well.

Bimmer, that looks amazing. Any ideas about someone who could wrap my mule like that?

I have everything to do the work except for a grinder to smooth the edges of the sharkskin/rayskin after applying it to the tang and I do not have any West Systems epoxy/resin to harden the cord wrap with once it is complete.

I had to hand sand my sharkskin and it isn't quite as perfect as I want it to be although it is pretty good. Also, I have not epoxied my wrap yet to make it durable.

I'm sure there are knifemakers that can do the work but I'm not sure what kind of waiting list they might have.

Purchasing West Systems epoxy is no problem. If I could find an in-expensive belt grinder I would be in business for the handle wrap jobs on the Mule.

^ I'll keep looking then.

I remember the first "real" (aka, not Wal-Mart) knife I got was a CRKT First Strike in the three inch version. I loved the handle style, and still do. Can't get enough of it. Wood and G-10 are great, but wrapped with ray skins, it can't be beat. It may not be perfect to you, but it looks damn good on my end. :)

I have a mule that needs that kind of treatment. Is there any Safety Orange paracord out there????

No problem. Mine is actually very good but it won't be ready to use without a good coat of epoxy/resin to the wrap. You are right.......there's something about a knife with a rayskin under Japanese style cord wrap handle!!!!!!

My intention from the start was to wrap all of my Mule handles in this fashion with different colored skins underneath.
