PLEASE READ THIS!!!

As for me talking about own knives and counting them are the funniest part of knives collection (except cutting own fingers, certainly

).
OK, let me to count ... :
FIXED BLADES: none (I'm "folder-man"

).
FOLDERS: 3.5 (.5 means COAST "LiteKnife" C50S, I call this one as "semiknife").
SAKs: 6 (3 of them are no-red-gift-version Victorinox "Classics", are they real knives, I'm not sure, and 1 - Victorinox "Skipper", maybe it is better to call this one as SNK - Swiss Navy Knife - if anybody heard about Swiss Navy

).
MULTITOOLS: 2 (BTW: are the multitools teal knives? - no bad topic for discussion, isn't it ?)
Finally: 11.5
No big collections, but life is continuing ...
Regards,
MIKLE

So many knives, so little time!
I had a late start, and Singapore and Perth don't boast very many good knife shops or shows. But at the last count:

6 Fixed
10 Folders (including SAKs)
2 Multitools

Got another folder arriving in the mail any day now, and I'm going to order a few more of the knives on my wish list when my pay check comes in.

Well... I hesitated on getting in on this topic cause I didn't want to seem like a big shot, but I have been making professionally for over 30 years and in that time have managed to build a collection of somewhere around 350-400 knives of pretty much every type. I started keeping them in glass display cases which I highly recommend. Its always fun to get them out and show them off to my buddies ... most of which are fellow knife makers. I've considered putting them up on my website. I think the only reason I haven't so far is because of how much work it would be... I'm making a knife now with handle scales made out of a dinosaur turd.
You should see this stuff... I have a pic of it on our forum site....

I would vote "yes" for a running # of all the knives owned by forum members here... I'll bet that would be a pretty impressive number..
Talk to you all soon...

Wow...... I wouldn't have normally taken that much time to go count, but you got me to wonndering. So, after going through the house (not including the kitchen / kitchen knives), garage, truck, jeep, work, and counting a couple on loan to my sons, I came up with 62 not counting 3 that are on order. 43 for collectin' and the rest are users. I didn't think it would be that high.

I have been in the knife business for 15 years, and people tell me all the time. The average person, has between 30 - 60 knives in their collection, esp when they are past 30 and getting into a income level where they can afford to buy some stuff. Now a days, Pakinstan is so cheap, even a lot of teenagers have as many as 30. When someone gets to where they have over 300, they are really hooked. I know a few people who have 5,000 to 6,000 of them, and they are not dealers. Just real knife nuts. What often makes it hard to sell a knife, is that people already have so many, so they have the option of being able to buy only when they find a really good price. Chances are, in my neck of the woods, if someone has over 300 knives, they got at least one of them from me. They always stop by my table, to see if I have found anything for them. I always tend to give away the really good stuff to cheap

When I get my butterfly dispute settled with eBay, I hope that every serious knife collector on the internet buys as least one knife from me, even if I don't make a profit on it. Of course my wife has different thoughts about the making a profit part of it

As for me, my personal collection is maybe between 60 and 100. When I place an order, if I have a cheap and really good selling knife, I will buy up to 5 dozen of them. That way I know I will at least have a 3 month supply. Blue Ridge will buy up to 1000. An importer I deal with, gets up to 7000. Thanks JohnR7 ExpoJohnR7@aol.com

For me, today, at this very moment and this answer will only be good for probably about 18hrs since it's Sunday and they don't deliver mail on Sunday, I would have to say, but this is a very inaccurate account since it doesn't include my son's, wive's, oops wife's, fishing, kitchen, and other specialty knives, about 20. Whew! that took too much thinking! Don't ask this question tomorrow because the mail will have arrived and hopefully a knife or two or three that I'm expecting. This really is an ever changing figure in my house because of trading buying and selling. I only wish I could just buy and not have to sell or trade to get new knives.

35-40 knives and multitools. More than half are folders although I like more fixed bladed knives. This year I'll expect to buy 10-15 more (10folders 5 fixed).
