Please recommend a pocket folder, blade 3.4"-3.8" for EDC

OK the Pika arrived and I must say, the fit and finish is really nice. Benchmade must have set a fairly high standard for their offshore plant to meet in putting these knives together. It's a nice knife for sure.

But still, something about the knife doesn't feel as ergonomic to me and I have decided that for a few dollars more, I can have a 551 Grip. So I've decided to return it in exchange for a BM551 Grip.

As many here have said, reading and studying specs and getting recommendations is all well and good, but until you have a knife in your hands, you really can't get a good sense and feel for it. So I ventured to a Wholesale Sportsmans (formerly Sportmans Warehouse) on Saturday and they had an excellent selection of knives for me to compare and handle. That was quite informative! Knives I thought might feel a little heavy or bulky were actually not. Man, there are a lot of nice knives out there!

If you think the grip can hold you for a bit, perhaps you could wait for one of these up and coming blades.

Otherwise I vote for the osborne design benchmades. The 930, 940, and 950 are all awesome.

Oh, I'm so with ya on that. You can add in the 960 Osborne as well, which I recently got, I LOVE this knife... 2.3 oz.!

Here's a family photo from yesterday. Pika is going back to be replaced by the 551 Grip. The two CRKT knives were bought years ago before I knew what I was doing. Doolittle's a beater, but the M16-12 has served me well for years as my EDC. Now that I know more about knives, my choices are getting more expensive. :(

A 940 is sure to join the group at some point.

I see you dont have the para-military listed there... i have the paramilitary and its a great knife... s30v steel grade and in ur wieght boundrys

although if you dont want it .. i'd say get the 940 Osborne

sgt244... yes, the PM looks like a goodie and, of course, I've been flirting with the 940 for a while now and think that flirtation may go on for a bit of a while before we finally consumate. ;) I know we will, but for some reason I'm in no hurry.

Any of you guys ever go in waves with your knives?... like run a Spyderco wave for awhile, then a Benchmade wave, or a Kershaw wave? I feel like I was riding a small BM wave for a short time (Mini Barrage & 943), then hopped on a Spydie wave for a short time (Sage 1 and G10 Dragonfly), now I'm back on the BM thing with the 960SLV and the 551 Grip (my 3.5" choice arrived at through this thread).

And I'm starting to sense another Spyderco wave newly in the making. Like a green handled, full flat-ground Delica or Endura, perhaps? ;)

Yeah, I used to do that a bit. Ive really cut back with my folders these days. I only buy few and far between. I keep looking, but will only pull the trigger on a new knife if i am willing to sell one of my others. If I am not willing to sell, it aint good enough to buy. Keeps me in check:)

Hk 14205 or 950 rift. Both solid knives. I give the nod to the HK14205 for beef though.

Is the HK14205 axis knife every bit as good a quality as the other Benchmades with 154CM blades and G10 scales? Fit, finish, ease of deployment, etc. Just with HK on the blade instead of the butterfly?
