Hello! I'm a fairly new forum member and not very knowledgeable about all the various knife models and makers out there. I've been collecting knives for just for a few years, but have decided to move on from collecting, mainly due to stress and anger caused by the counterfeits floating around. But, I do still like blades of all kinds, so the new direction I'm going in is buying quality for specific uses. I need some help with my EDC/Tactical knife choice.

EDC: Dragonfly. I have 2 more as replacements and will be using Dragonflys till I need an automatic knife.
EDC/Tactical: On occasion, I carry the sprint run Lum Tanto. Ideally, I would like to have 2 more as replacements, but they are too expensive to buy and use right now. So I'm in search of a knife similar in size and weight of the Lum Tantos. Are there any current models by any maker that is comparable? Looking for under $150. Thank you.

You might take a look at the Cold Steel Code 4. Same length and weight as the lum tanto, and under a c-note.

I'll second the Cold Steel recommendation, though I would look at the Recon 1 as well as the Code 4. Another option would be the Hogue EX03 tanto which offers both a 3.5 and 4 inch blade models. Kizer is worth looking into as well since they have a broad variety of knives in your budget that could fit the bill.

Thank you for the recommendations. I will look into them more closely, but they all seem to fit the bill. Thank you.

Cold Steel has improved greatly their knives in the $50-150 range. XHP steel and better quality control. So much so that I've purchased a few recently and like them. Used to think CS was basically substandard.

You might take a look at ZT550s too its a tough well made sucker that would work well in the tactical role. Several of the ZT's are pretty much designed for that although some are over your price point. The 550 can be found often on the exchange here for less than that.

Personally though I prefer a fixed blade for that sort of thing, knowing I'm going to abuse it.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I appreciate it. I like the look of the Onrush 622, but a little heavier than I would like. I'm going to be giving the Code 4 a serious look. Thank you.
